People are asking me most of the time, why did I go? Why I was spending money by going instead of sending the funds towards different missions in countries like Kenya, Israel, Romania, Mexico, Bahamas, China?
Well my straightforward answer is that nothing can replace the human resource in these countries, and if you will come with us, then you will better understand why. But this is one answer to consider. There are multiple benefits of a Short Term Mission Trip.
A Short Term Mission Trip will always get the most of you when it comes to serve the Lord and the broken people
The best of you and the worst of you will always come up when it’s about serving The Lord and the people wo are in need. The best of you when you are happy to serve, when you have an open heart. When you are available to whatever The Lord is bringing on your plate, when you know that your work has an eternal impact upon your destiny – reward wise – and upon the people’s hearts whom you are serving.
The worst of you when you are getting at the end of your rope physically and emotionally – due to the effort you are doing in the mission field, when you are tired and exhausted due to the long traveling times. When you are missing home and the loved ones back home in a way that you cannot express.
A Short Term Mission Trip will take you closer to the heart of The Father
Spiritually speaking you will step out in victory, because there is no way to make yourself available to people, without making yourself available to the Lord. Nothing gets you closer to The Lord then being at His service. Jesus was praying that His Father’s Kingdom to come. To be made available to a lost world.
How this will happen? Simply if you will step out of your comfort zone and if you step through faith in His promises – that then you will do what He says – – He will never leave you nor forsaken you, and if you will go when He is calling you, then His Kingdom will further on.
Then your heart will get closer to His.
A Short Term Mission Trip will always require a humble heart
Pride and serving people will never match. Someone once said: “I am so humble, and so proud of it!” With an attitude like that, you can go in a short vacation, in a city break, in a voyage, an a cruise, but not in the mission field.
In the midst of the mission field, one of the golden rules is that you will give up on all of your expectations. If you will do that, any spot of pride will vanquish.
A humble heart will also make you available to a lost and broken world. How will you wash people’s feet or tie their wound if you are too good for that?
A Short Term Mission Trip will never let you staying at home without caring.
If I would only knew what is gong on in Kenya, If I would only knew what is happening in China, Israel, Mexico, Bahamas, Romania the countries where COMMIT Ministries International is involved, I wouldn’t ever take that seat on my comfortable sofa back home. But now I know, and I am going as The Lord is calling.
When you are coming back from a short term mission trip, the marks of the first experience last till you get there the second time, third time, and so on. When you can’t go you may help and encourage somebody else to go. Somebody else at your church. Somebody else at work, or somebody who is a part of your close or extended family.
Conclusion:
When The Lord is calling you to go, please do not hesitate and go, because so many blessings will rest upon you. Your heart will get softened, your spirit will be lifted, your spiritual gifts and natural abilities will be useful to so many people in the most of need.
Would you like to be forever changed in a fierce prayer warrior? Then go. Would you like to become an ambassador for causes that matters for real? Then GO! Would you like to become a better disciple? THEN GO!
